bullet

Free agents may be signed at any time during the regular season. Players signed AFTER September 1 will not be eligible for post-season play during that season. Bidding on free agents is closed from the end of the regular season until bidding is reopened at a time and date announced by the commissioner.

bullet

Free Agent bidding will take place on the Discussion Board. The Discussion Board bidding will have the "24 -hour lead" clause. If an owner has the top total bid for a 24-hour period, he signs that player for said amount. The bidding for a player is over and no more bids may be placed at the time the 24 hour time period has elapsed, not when the commissioner posts the winning bidder.

bullet

The times posted on the message board header are the official times.

bullet

The season will be allowed to start even if free agent bidding is still in progress.

bullet

Length of contract can range from 1-7 years. Contract offers to free agents may not include player option years, team option years, or no-trade requirements.

bullet

No player (free agent or re-signed player) may be signed to a multiyear contract that extends beyond the age of 45. Example: Maximum number of years a 39 year old player may sign for is 7 (40 is 6, 41 is 5, 42 is 4, 43 is 3, 44 is 2, 45 is 1). Baseball Mogul has a mandatory retirement age of 45.

bullet

ONE YEAR FREE AGENT CONTRACTS:  Any FREE AGENT signed to a one year contract cannot be subject to renegotiation until after the trade deadline (July 31).

bullet

The minimum bid is $1500 per year.

bullet

Bids must be in multiples of $100 per year after the initial $1500. Example: Bids of $1600, $1700, $1800, $1900, per year are legal. Bids of $1625K, $1750K, $1875K, $923,264.72 per year are not legal.

Withdrawal of Bids

bullet

Bids on a free agent may be withdrawn at any time prior to the end of the twenty-four hour period. To do so, simply post a message in the appropriate players thread stating that you are withdrawing your bid.

bullet

IF YOU WITHDRAW A BID ON A FREE AGENT, ALL OF YOUR BIDS ON THAT PLAYER ARE WITHDRAWN AND YOU GIVE UP ANY FURTHER RIGHT TO BID ON OR ACQUIRE THAT PLAYER DURING THE CURRENT YEAR FREE AGENT BIDDING.

bullet

If the top bid is withdrawn, the leading bid becomes the lowest previous bid that tops all other remaining bidders. See example below.

bullet

If the top bid is withdrawn, the twenty-four hour period starts over at the time of the posting of the withdrawal message.

Example:

Team A bids $5K

Team B bids $10K

Team C bids $15K

Team A bids $20K

Team B bids $25K

Team A bids $30K

Team B bids $35K

Team A bids $40K

If team A now withdraws his $40K bid, all of team A's bids are deleted, and the top bid now becomes team B's $25K bid, the lowest bid that tops any other remaining bids.
