§         A player may be released at any time by buying out the contract for the amount the game dictates while in "coach" mode.

§         A new owner receives three free releases when he takes over the team, which must be used within 72 hours.

§         The commissioner's office may award free releases to other teams as contest awards or whenever he deems it to be in the best interest of the league.

§         Free releases, whether acquired as a new owner or by other means, can only be used to release players already on the team roster at the time the free release is acquired.
